What type of mulch do you use?

 

We use double shredded hardwood bark mulch.  The mulch is used to conserve soil moisture, moderate soil temperature and suppress weed growth.  Hardwood bark mulch is often used around trees, shrubs and planting areas.  Woodchips can also be processed into playground mulch to lessen the impact of falls around swingsets and play areas.

 

Where do you get your mulch?

 

We use area suppliers like Mulch Makers and Woodland Mulch.  You can visit their websites to see pictures of the various mulch colors that are available.  www.mulchmakers.biz and www.woodlandmulch.com.

 

Is there a price difference with colored mulches?

 

No, the only price difference is when we install Sweet Peat which is a more organic, expensive alternative.

When is the best time to put down mulch?

 

Mulch is usually applied towards the beginning of the growing season, and is often reapplied as needed.  It serves initially to warm the soil by helping it retain heat which is lost during the night.  This allows​ early seeding and transplanting of certain plants and encourages faster growth.

 

Do you provide other services besides mulch installation?

 

Yes we do.  We also specialize in blower applied compost along with aeration and overseeding to help produce thicker, greener lawns.  This is usually done in the fall.
